Music Without Frontiers
Start date: Jun 1, 2014,
End date: May 31, 2016
PROJECT
FINISHED
The goal of the project is to provide the possibility for the students to perfect their artistic and technical/interpretive capacities, be it as soloists or in ensembles, to assimilate the cultural diversity and to learn about life and culture of other countries. These experiences result in personal growth and capacity to take full responsibility for their own lives. As shown by experience, by the time they graduate, the students who have had the oportunity to participate in an exchange demonstrate a more open professional attitude and respect for other cultures. They are also more capable of grasping the notion of their professional activity and life in a much more encompassing and inclusive manner.
The project consists in a network of six professional / secondary level music schools, from various European countries with credibility in the field: the Czech Republic (Prague Conservatory), Poland (Karol Szymanowski Music School in Warsaw ), Spain (Arturo Soria Conservatory in Madrid), Finland (Conservatories of Helsinki and Lahti) and Portugal (Conservatory - School of Arts of Madeira). In these schools, the students will have instrument lessons, chamber music and orchestra rehearsals, and will present themselves in concert, as soloist and in ensembles, they will gain knowledge about the culture and the language of respective countries and will develop their command of the English language, the official language of this project. All our partners are comitted to receiving and sending students, according to the funds granted. The length of individual stay is three weeks and the scheduling will be made at the beginning of each school year.
The fundamental goal of this network is the development of professional learning in musing, promotion of exchanges between schools, international experience in real-life context and the improvement of curricular contents using learning practices already proven in other countries.
Bearing in mind that the island of Madeira is a European ultraperipheral region, it is important that the students get the opportunity to experience other realities and simultaneously develop European partnerships through learning about legal and practical aspects of working in Europe.
All the students' work accomplished abroad will end in concerts, which will be recorded and which, apart from the evaluations of the respective instrument and ensemble teachers , are a part of the overall evaluation. The accomplished study will be validated by Europass Mobility. The project calendar will be the following: information to students in July 2014, with motivation and clarification activities; the interested students will be selected according to their artistic level and the partners' interest; the exchanges themselves will take place between October 2015 and April 2016, depending on the partners' school calendars. The final evaluation of the project will be made in May 2016.
