Music brings us together
Start date: May 4, 2016, End date: Oct 3, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project "Music brings us together" was created from the desire of young people to develop a passion which is classical music, mainly European early music and Baroque music. The participants also want to have connections with young people from different countries who have got similar interests. The main structure of the project will be 12-day youth exchange . It will be held between 16 and 27 August in 2016 in Zabinka. It is a very picturesque and cosy town by the lake in the Mazurian district in Poland. Participants will be divided into two groups: Female Choir Youth Culture Centre in Bialystok ( Poland ) and Youth Baroque Orchestra of Roquetas de Mar ( Spain ). In total, the project will be attended by 40 participants at the age of 13-20 years. The main topic of the youth exchange will be the music, seen as a universal language connecting people around the world in spite of their cultural, religious, generational or morals differences. We want to show that even in this case, music could be a bridge between the two groups - the Spanish orchestra and the Polish choir. The project aims at composing music together, sharing experiences, learning a new repertoire, the development of musical skills, experience the culture of the partner and the improvement of linguistic competence of young people. These points will be implemented through many common tasks using the following methods as learning through practice and experience, mutual learning, music workshops, role-playing, preparing multimedia presentations, brainstorming, integration activities, learning through play (multi-lingual karaoke, puns, creating posters - presenting knowledge in graphic form, watching films - development of language skills and knowledge of the history of music), outdoor sports activities, sightseeing, field games, quizzes. There will be two concerts directed to the local community: the first held in Zabinka and the second organized in Bialystok – capital of the region and the city in which Choir of Youth Culture operates. They will be the great opportunity to present the effects of working together. It will be also the main point of exchange.Other effects of exchange, apart from musical skills, will be social, interpersonal and intercultural skills. Young participants will improve their confidence in their own capabilities. It will also encourage them to undertake further activities related to mobility and non-formal education in future. Participation in the project will also contribute to leveling negative cultural stereotypes existing in the minds of young people. It will bring positive attitudes towards other people’s culture and their habits. It will also awake in them a sense of solidarity and belonging to the international society of the European Union.Contact established with partners in the project will influence the development of international activities of two institutions will enrich their experience and contribute to further cooperation and further action in the youth work and non-formal education.
