Some researchers in the field of intelligence have long argued that people have a variety of different intelligences. A person may be good at learning languages and terrible at learning music - or vice versa. A single score on an IQ test cannot adequately represent the complex and diverse capabilities of a human being. Today we have dozens of youngsters who have no clue about their own clear interests and possibilities. They encounter difficulties in choosing life path that suits them the best and, most usually, just follow someone else's. It is the point where self-realization dies.
In this project we introduced and reinforced the idea of “multiple intelligences” provided by American developmental psychologist Howard Gardner. Participants in the project learned that their intelligence and ability to understand the world around them is complex and cannot be measured with an IQ. Through non-formal activities participants learned about the theory of multiple intelligences suggesting that there are number of distinct forms of intelligence that each individual possesses in varying degrees. During the youth exchange, 40 participants from 8 European countries learned and practiced through access to appropriate tools, and through non-formal learning methods to make effective use of these tools. 19 youngsters with fewer opportunities like educational, economic and geographical obastacles managed to cross over their difficulties and feel equal between other participants.
“Multiple Perspectives” helped participants to discover themselves and choose their life-path according to their potential, strengths and opportunities. With the implementation of dissemination activities we have showed the way for those, who are lost in their life-path, by introducing a completely different way of assessment one’s personality and potential.
