Summary
The Special School and Educational Centre (SOSW) for Hearing-Impaired Children is a facility for children with hearing impairment. Its pupils are children and adolescents with disabilities of varying degree, many with multiple disabilities.
The aim of the project is to get to know other educational systems, modern methods and forms of schoolwork used in European countries; increase students’ motivation to individual learning developing their knowledge and skills; and show pupils the possibilities offered by modern Europe.
The project participants are subject-matter teachers, physiotherapists and librarians. All are ToDs (teachers od the deaf) eager to further improve their pedagogical skills.
Our participation in language courses and training in language observation (Bi-Component), as well as specialised training within the framework of the Erasmus+ project will change the face of our school, allow the modification of the evaluation system, allow us to improve the use of the project method in the classroom, develop greater independence in our pupils and apply well-recognised solutions in working with them. We would like to become a modern European institution that responds to the needs of our children so that they can make the most of their chances without fear, develop their skills and prepare well for life and increase their chances for employment in Europe. Improving the competence of our teaching staff will enable us to introduce elements of English into selected classes, help them establish contacts with other teachers and schools elsewhere, so that pupils can see, through joint activities with their peers, what opportunities the knowledge of a foreign language can open to them.
Comparison of our present work methods with those of other systems of schoolwork in Europe will allow us to introduce more effective solutions and more modern and interesting forms of educational activity. The experience gained will enable teachers to liven up their classes, making students more likely to take part in them and increasing their motivation to learn, all of which will improve the overall quality of work at our centre.
