Moving Docs
Start date: Jan 1, 2017, End date: Dec 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

In its third year, Moving Docs aims to offer European documentaries a longer life within and across national territories, by achieving greater access to new and younger audiences, while retaining traditional audience groups. Moving Docs has become Europe’s first pan-European network for the cross-media distribution and promotion of creative documentaries, via diverse platforms, including theatrical, online, community, educational and television. In addition, Moving Docs works as a platform that generates and shares knowledge among film professionals in Europe, about best practices in promoting and marketing documentaries. In 2017, Moving Docs works with partners in 22 countries (Austria, Belgium, Bosnia, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Macedonia, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey and the United Kingdom). Activity in 2017 concerns the creation and application of innovative digital strategy and tools, carried out by a core specialist team and during 2 yearly workshops for 22 partners. Digital strategy is applied centrally through collaboration with media partners, video-on-demand platforms and social media campaigns, but also implemented on a national level by partners, who promote and release films on diverse media platforms. A minimum of ten documentaries are selected for screenings by partners and each partner promotes and screens a minimum of two films. These documentaries combine cinematic quality with relevant and engaging issues and with an ability to communicate to a wide audience. Emphasis is on films promoting inter-cultural understanding, sustainable living, and human rights. An audience of almost seven million will be reached in 2017.
