With the project titled "Moving beyond barriers of culture & language" which was built within the scope of European Voluntary Service Program, it was aimed to make the youth realize the importance of contributing to civil society and to support making them active citizens by having them participate to non-governmental organizations that actively operate in Europe. However, it is believed that generally foreign languages and cultural differences pose obstacles for working, reading, volunteering in a foreign country specifically within the scope of this project. The necessary basis was provided for intercultural learning in this project by having the host institutions select the volunteers from different countries and organizing the team works in a way that they will feed from differences. Common working language of the volunteers is English and common training methods focused on group studies will be applied in order to have them learn the language of the country they stay quickly and actively. Host institutions will be highly supportive and promotive for having the volunteers achieve language proficiency. In line with this purpose, host institutions will only provide practical English courses in the current situation if volunteers needs and requires. In brief, it is expected from three volunteers that participate in the project to gain intercultural information and awareness. This acquired characteristic allows volunteers to achieve a perspective that can observe its own culture (its strengths and weaknesses) from outside as well as the culture of the country in which they provided voluntary service for a specific period. There are totally three volunteers in the project. Two of them will voluntarily work in Association “Focus - European Center for Development "- Pazardjik organization in Bulgaria for 2 months, one volunteer will participate to voluntary activities in Community Foundation of Irpin Region in Ukraine for 12 months.
