PROJECT
FINISHED
This project aims to give our students the opportunity to stay outside our country, to enrich then not only culturally but also personality.Students target in this project belong to the healthcare industry, particularly they are studying to be nursing assistants and Pharmacy and Parapharmacy technician. As professionals in the health field, they need a continuous formation that avoids the loss of their knowledge. Due to that, we have to opt for a project of this size that allows our students to enrich the environment, new technologies, techniques and innovations taking place in other countries. If all this we add the economic situation in our country and the degree of actual employment of these professional profiles on our island, we see this project as an opportunity for our students to have a work even beyond our boundaries. The total number of students opting for this offer is 11, between the two courses. Among them, we have Pharmacy students who will develop during their stay part of the training period in the workplace (FCT), and nursing assistants who will go as recent graduates. In both cases the objectives pursued are the same: to strengthen the knowledge learned during the cycle, learn new skills, become more competitive professionally and, finally, a job placement.Considering that this is our first foray into this type of project, the country chosen for the stays is Italy. We aim to expand our options to countries as leaders in the field of science such as the UK and, especially, Germany in future calls.During the previous phase, our students will have to perform a series of linguistic activities proposed by the Department of Foreign Language which we with will arrange for this purpose. On the other hand, we consider necessary that our students undertake a period of FCT in companies of our island before starting their stay abroad. For recent graduates, especially those who are not developing their specialty functions must submit the activities promoted by the Department of Foreign Language and they will have to do a few practice hours in order to refresh knowledge and techniques developed during their FCT.Monitoring of both groups of students will be continuous, taking an online communication (email) between tutors of FCT receiver and home center and tutor charged with monitoring of recent graduates. The main expected result is that our students get the most out of their stay, sharing with us on their return all those new skills and knowledge acquired during that period. In addition, the greater autonomy that students will acquire during their stay, away from the household, and forced to communicate in a foreign language, is another value to consider. In terms of impact, we believe this project will allow us to motivate those students in our island that, for one reason or other, cannot see completed his academic training at a higher level, can find in our courses a training alternative, motivating and enriching, with options for get a real job.
