Motiver les élèves dans leur apprentissage de l'anglais.
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Aug 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Since 2010, our school is involved in a partnership with other international schools. It's very important to use innovating practises regarding the teaching of English. Because our school was part of Jules Verne program, some of our classes have written to New York penpals through a correspondance project. Then, a teacher went to a Comenius internship. Other classes are involved in a correspondence project with British students. Our teachers already use to share their practises which is very good for our goals, regarding English teaching. Speaking English is also practised during afterschool programs : lunch time, workshop before and after the class. The Consil House and their representatives are involved in this project too. Our aim is to sustain the teaching of English in our school in an innovated way. We would like our teachers have the best trainings, which will reinforce our student's motivation and skills. Each academic year, three teachers will be part of an intership in Great-Britain. We think that learning English is not repeating words. Learning English makes sense if you use it : using it to communicate (correspondance), to exchange (video conferences, letters) and to be open minded (Europe, other countries, habits and customs) Furthermore, the pupil is not by himself in front of his teacher anymore. He learns with the teacher and use the language with his penpal. He will want to know more about his Tcheck, Italian or British penpal. This foreign penpal will seem very far at the beginning, but the more they will exchange, the more they will talk to each other, the more they will know from each other. They will become friends and they will want to meet. First, a quality training is the first part of our project. Then, we plan to have a large range of activities : discovery of European coutries, discovery of other cultures, correspondence with European pupils, video conferences, educative trips, workshops, using new technologies through a specific website. Finally, the main goal is to improve our students linguistic skills, keeping in mind that those linguistic skills can be reach with the only condition that learnings have to be pleasant and appropriate for them. Learning English to know more about other people. Understand cultural differences and similars. Learning English through Science, Literacy, Sport, Arts... Learning English with pleasure, confidence to realize, further, that it is essential to know more than one language. Our goal is that our students start their first year in middle school with very good skills and confidence (with the level A1 of CECLR completed).
