MOTIVA: Developing digital entrepreneurship contents for secondary schools

This project has been improved following recommendations from evaluation reports of calls Erasmus+ 2014 and 2015.MOTIVA. Developing digital Entrepreneurship contents for secondary schools is a project that faces several challenges linked totransversal skills implementation and assessment, specifically regarding sense of initiative and entrepreneurship and digitalcompetences, as well as an efficient use of ICT-based methodologies to promote students engagement in secondary education. Theaims of this project are:- Fostering cross-curricular development of entrepreneurship and digitial competences by innovative ICT-based learningapproaches.- Improving students’ motivation.- Promoting ICT and entrepreneurship teachers’ skills.- Improving ICT implementation efficiency and access to OER.To achieve these objectives, a partnership made up of 6 partner organisations is established. The project is led by the PolythecnicUniversity of Cartagena (Spain) and it works together with the following partners: University of Murcia (Spain), a higher education institution; Platon (Greece), a high school; Istituto Comprensivo Statale di Paese (Italy), a high school; PONTOn vzm (Belgium), a non-governmental organisation focused on education; and CEEIC (Spain) a business and entrepreneurship centre.Within this project, different activities have been defined. An e-learning platform comming from a research work at UPCT (Cabrera et al., 2012) will be extended and adapted and fed with specific digital contents for different subjects but with entrepreneurship and ICT competences as transversal pillars. Materials will be also developed in English to foster Content and Language Integrated Learning. Then, teachers will be trained and provided with the skills and knowledge to successfully implement the developed tools and contents. After this, the e-learning platform and digital contents will be tested in order to have empirical evidence on how they have a positive impact in terms of acquiring the aforementioned skills and increasing students’ motivation. Finally, an evaluation of the programme will take place and support methodological guidance and policy recommendations will be delivered through different documents and dissemination events.These activities will be carried out by involving teachers and students since the beginning of the project to assess their needs and test the produced outputs, as end-users. Also, stakeholders such as policy makers and business sector will be considered during the project to get feedback and support dissemination efforts.As a result of the activities and outputs mentioned above, students will improve their engagement and they are expected to be better equiped with entrepreneurial skills and digital competences. Teachers will improve their abilities to implement innovative ICT-based methodologies in the classroom and they will have the chance of implementing best practices and innovative approaches to develop and assess transversal skills.In the long term, students are expected to improve their motivation and performance and also to gain and strengthen skills neededfor labour market and citizenship. Teachers will have a flexible and friendly e-learning platform to make ICT-based methodologieseasy to be adopted in every subject on a daily basis. Also, they will be able to standardise the implementation and measurement ofstudents' progress in entrepreneurship and ICT skills.
