motion of neighbourhood cooperation and cultural diversity between creative communities of Druskininkai and Grodno (Neighbourhood of creative communities of Druskininkai and Grodno)
Start date: Sep 30, 2011, End date: Sep 29, 2012 PROJECT  FINISHED

Despite close cross-border social and economic activities, Lithuania and Belarus face a number of political and economic obstacles which impede mutual cooperation in the field of culture: visa regime, low financing assigned to informal education institutions, cultural organisations and art groups, lack of political will for development of cooperation networks. The project is aimed to promote the initiatives of Druskininkai and Grodno regional communities in developing long-standing intercultural relations between individuals and institutions of Lithuania and Belarus, establishing various sustainable cooperation networks and organising joint events. Expected Results: The partners intend to encourage involvement of community members in transborder cultural activities through participation in traditional events (concerts of art groups and exhibitions of artists' works) during Belarus culture week in Druskininkai; preparation and public presentation of a new historical exposition on common history of the two cities in Druskininkai Town Museum; promotion cooperation between children, youth and adults of Lithuania and Belarus by improving artistic programmes for educational institutions of Grodno and Druskininkai; development of an experience exchange network through organisation of 2 trainings and 1 plain-air for Lithuanian and Belarusian folk artists and craftsmen.
