The primary objective of the project is to put the idea of harmonic and cooperating region into practice through advancing the cooperation and clusterisation of SMEs operating in the renewable energy sector, and by so doing, establish the pull sector role of the renewable energy sector, create jobs, increase the innovation of enterprises and reduce the Schengen effect by activating cross-border economic relationships. This objective offers solutions to global challenges emerging on both sides of the border from two points of view, reinforce international trends and research results:1. It intends to advance the establishment of clusters by encouraging the cooperation of SMEs. Clusters are one of the successful answers given by SMEs to global competition, as the competitiveness of undertakings strengthens, their productivity increases due to specialisation, they realise the advantages of economies of scale, etc.2. It concentrates on renewable energy sectors: this sector is an endogenous resource present in the whole border region, according to forecasts, it is capable of significant market expansions, and therefore it has an interest in innovation. The general objective of the project is to put the idea of harmonic and cooperating region into practice through advancing the cooperation and creation of clusters for SMEs operating in the renewable energy sector. The direct target group of the project is the small and medium sized enterprises operating in the HU-RO border region, working in fields of activity connected with the renewable energy sector. The number of these companies can be only estimated, there are in average 200 companies. The already-working Archenerg Cluster had a vital role during the definition of the target-groups. Between the cluster members there was an obvious and categorical need to extend their cooperation over the national border. The cluster management organisation, SolarTech, had defined the direct target group of the project through this point of view. The evaluation of the capabilities and willingness of this target group to cooperate and to form clusters is in the centre of our project. As a result of the project comprehensive information will be available concerning the examined factors. The main specific activities of the project are: justification of clusters, practical preparation of clusters, enterprises incentives to create clusters.
