The aim of the Erasmus+KA1 project worked out by Saldus municipality Striki basic school ”To obtain Montesori method by observing teachers` work in Swedish schools” is further education for teachers, gaining the experience to modernize the process of education and implementation of innovative methods in Striki basic school. Increasing teachers` competencies and improving school`s leadership and management according to the implemented teaching methods. Improvement of teaching and learning quality promoting the learning of basic competencies thereby carrying out preventive measures to reduce risk of early school drop-outs and the involment of children in pre-school education. The internationalization of education process. Today`s changing circumstances make us think all the time about obtaining new, efficient teaching methods and as one of the ways we see M.Montessori padagogy based on child`s self motivation, using sensitive periods in which a child with a special interest learns skills and knowledge designed for this period. Therefore all the teachers learn Montesori pedagogy basics in courses. There are only some nursery schools that work according to Montesori principles in Latvia and no schools where to gain experience so the necessity arose to look for schools abroad. So far we have found two schools in Sweden(Albatross Monetsori school in Lidingo and Bjerredas Montesori school in Lunda region), which are ready to take our teachers to observation.. There are 5 mobilities planned in which a nursery, primary, two lower secondary teachers and a deputy teacher responsible for curriculum and time tables will take part. The duties for the participants are clearly defined. After the study visits the teachers will analyse the obtained experience, will introduce the new methods in their everyday work, will organise seminars and classes for other teachers, students and parents. In the coming years it is planned to implement Montessori method in all educational stages provided in Striki school. It is expected that the implementation of the project will expand Europe`s dimension organizing the network of Montesori schools ready to make an application for Erasmus+ KA2 project.
