The Project "Teacher qualification development as a way to improve the quality of teaching and learning process" aims to develop teacher qualifications. Currently, the main activities of the gymnasium consist of implementation of the following educational programmes: Secondary education, International Baccalaureate Diploma programme, informal education as well as participation in national and international projects. Teacher training is of the priorities at Šiauliai Didždvario gymnasium aiming to improve quality of education. The school constantly attempts to provide the IB DP teachers with the possibility to participate in teacher training workshops and encourages those with the international training to contribute towards education quality improvement by participating in the national quality improvement projects (such as transferring best- fit practices in developing and piloting student research papers, social competence development). It is planned that 6 different subject (biology, history, mathematics, psychology, economics, English FL) teachers without previous IB DP training will take part in the upcoming 3 day workshops "Category 1 & 2 Workshops for IB DP teachers". During the workshops teachers will improve their professional competencies (personal benefit) which will have direct impact on quality of teaching and learning outcomes, will receive hands-on experience on teaching innovations, will become more competent in student assessment thus it will enhance the quality of learning and final results (student benefit). It is an invaluable overall benefit for the school, as it will allow not only to accomplish one of the strategic aims of the school but it will also improve the quality of IB DP and MYP teaching and learning.
