Mobility for all - initiating regional youth mobil..
Mobility for all - initiating regional youth mobility programmes in west Africa and the caribbean
Start date: Dec 15, 2011,
30 young people, from 3 Continents, 15 countries, experienced in Youth Exchanges, all from communities with fewer opportunities, will meet in the EU with the aim to challenge those responsible for Development Aid and Cooperation with the aim to "seed fund" two pilot regional Youth Exchange Programmes in West Africa and The Caribbean.Over a.3 week period the European Explore-Explain-Campaign-Tour will visit the Commission in Bruxelles, the Parliament in Strasbourg and the Officials in Luxembourg as well as the Court of Human Rights and relevant Embassies, the ACP and (as far as Visas allow) Geneva and the UN Development agencies. The project will start with introductions and preparation and end with evaluation and action plan in Hamburg. The Dissemination of results will be carried out by the young people in each of the participating countries.Outputs will be: - Awareness and proof of Need (for a Youth Mobilty Programme)- Knowledge of Development Aid (ECHO , ACP, UNDP etc.)- Sustainable networks (Continue building the TRIANGLE partners)- Matrix of funding opportunities (EU, ECHO, ACP, ECOWAS, UNICEF etc.)- Exchange of good practice (e.p.a. Youth Programme, EACEA, Youth Forum)- Action/business plans (now we are organised what do we do!! Numbers?)Long term outputs will be the establishment of regional "Youth Mobility" programmes for the countries of West Africa (Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Congo) and the Caribbean (Nicaragua, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, the islands of the Lesser Antilles and islands of the Greater Antilles). This project will be firmly based on partnerships made during the 3 year "Different Triangle" project e.p.a. organised between 2007 and 2010 (www.go-epa.org/en/a-different-triangle) where one of the main results was the realisation that one of the greatest barriers to sustained development in these regions is that so little contact is made between neighbouring countries. This Youth Project aims to create the conditions for sustainable youth contact between these countries.
