Mobilitet – ERASMUS+oplevelse –for livet!
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Skive Technical Institute has in the past 24 months had 55 trainees at 3-5 weeks mobility and ALL have had a great experience both professionally and personally and we believe that it contributes to give our students a greater understanding of other people's living conditions and thus helps to make trainees tolerant and understanding of the EU's values, in particular, and for life in a global village in general. We therefore would like this work continued and strengthened through a new application for the next 24 months . The participants will primarily be trainees from our basic course from the wood area, toolmakers , electricians, upholsterers/home decoration trainees, technical designers, hotel and catering and building and user service. We have been extremely successful with the individual mobilities that we have been able to establish. But the individual mobilities require a certain maturity and technical strength of students. Along with VETRO mobilities projects and Erasmus + Strategic Partnership projects which also have been "cool" for the participants, there is now great motivation and commitment to improve and expand our offers. It is still primarily girls from upholstery/home decoration who goes out (although currently there are 2 cooks on mobility in France). The individual customized mobilities we have had so far have been extremely fruitful for the trainees coming out! But they are also extremely resource demanding to establish and requires a certain maturity of the students to be given the chance! In autumn 2013 we had 9 students at IPSIA Brugnera in a specially organized international design and innovation project for good joiners. These are already in the selection required to take on mobility in the basic course and they are required to subsequently be stationed in PIU work placements of 3 to 6 months. February-March 2014 , we sent 18 students on a 3 week stay in Prague, in agreement with our good partner there. This collective placement allows to extend the offer for mobility with accompanying teachers to students who might otherwise be considered too weak for individual mobilities. We therefore in this application seek for 4 collective placements during 2014-2016, about 2x16 students from basic course to Prague and 2x20 selected joiners to Brugnera in Italy. We also want to maintain the offer to give our talented students the chance to get into a company matching their own requirements with the assistance of Skive Technical Institute. The collective placement is much easier to manage but requires teachers to go with the students. It will undoubtedly mature the students and give them a linguistic, academic, cultural progress. But when going so many from the same cultural and linguistic area together each student will gain less than students going on their own. Our strategy is twofold: we extend the group of students who get the chance through collective placements, we maintain the possibility for the good students to get ' super experience ' through individual self-selected mobilities. In addition we have experienced that students who participate in the international cooperation easier get an international career and also will be better equipped to be good employees in internationally oriented companies. There is no doubt that mobility improves trainees in school, in speaking a foreign language and personally. They get inspired and gain new professional practices, traditions and sometimes new tools to bring back to the school and their companies. We would like our students with different professional backgrounds to achieve the following: - To complement and extend their practical skills while they practice their language skills and get more experience and confidence in expressing themselves and communicate in another language - To see and learn how their craft is carried out in another European country with other academic and cultural traditions - To be more tolerant by seeing how things can be done and works even when it is not "their usual way of doing things". - To broaden their horizons and mature them. - To realize that the young people who speak a different language, eat strange food, do things differently, etc. nevertheless are very much just like young people at home or from Finland, Germany , Czech Republic, Italy, France ..... - To improve students' language and social skills significantly as they will need to communicate and use what they have learned during their stay - To strengthen the students' ability to be clarified about their subjects and thus far more motivated and focused when they come home
