Mermoz high school is a vocational high school offering qualifications for industry ( car mechanic and boat mechanic) and tertiary careers ( sales, trade and reception). This program is essential for our students because it will make their entry on the job market easier. We have chosen the acronym MERMOZ for this project (MERMOZ pour Mobilité Européenne pour Renforcer Mutualiser "Ozer") to emphasize the aims of this European mobility:
- to reinforce our students skills and their cultural background, to develop their academic and vocational knowledge to help them to enter the labour market. It is also to develop their commitment to our society: our students come from unprivileged families who do not have a strong sense of belonging to the European Union. The rate of abstention in Béziers broke records at the last European elections.
- to share efforts and resources with our partner and develop links between different cultures and cooperate to find the suitable work placements for our students.
This project will enable our school to send 11 students to have work placement in firms for 4 weeks abroad, in spring 2015. Our destination is Hódmezővásárhely in Hungary. The group of students ( most of them are under 18) will be supervised by an adult from our school during their whole stay. This adult will make sure this experience is successful for the group, he will offer monitoring in the training periods and will deal with all the organization and the practical aspects of the stay. Moreover, two vocational teachers, one specialized in sales and trade and one specialized in joinery will evaluate the skills learnt during the work placement (those skills are assessed and are taken into account to take the final examinations).
Our partner is Corvin high school in Hungary. It’s a vocational high school too. We have already worked together during our previous mobility and we have been fully satisfied with this cooperation. Thanks to their help, we have selected firms meeting our requirements. This partner will come for a European mobility to our school with 6 students at the end of March 2014. Thus, we consider we have found a reliable partner.
