Mobilité Dublin 2016-18
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our vocational high school recruits students across the Val d'Oise county offering a wide range of certificate courses (Building, Fashion and Tertiary). Close to a major railway and road station, 30 minutes away from Paris train stations, 45 minutes away from Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport, this proximity offers our students a geographical pool rich in professional opportunities. Therefore, the mobility offered by the Erasmus + program is a natural complement to our educational offer. Moreover, our students, from varied social ethnic and religious backgrounds, are both paragons of a great diversity favorable to mobility and in need of social and professional recognition. For 5 years, the european section has allowed us to offer participants a professional mobility that awakens and develops their awareness as European citizens. Our first participants, 6 girls and 1 boy, aged 16 to 18, are second year students in BTEC, 5 in“Accueil Relation Client et Usagers” (Hospitality and Customer Service) , 2 in « Commerce »(Sales). Their vocational mobility will take place in Dublin between November and December 2016.Enrolled in their first year, our selected students showed their motivation through class attendance, efforts to advance in their curriculum and careers while in internships. The number of participants is small but we prefer to value quality over quantity to better help them achieve their goals.A second group was recruited during the last trimester of the year 2015 within first year students in BTEC ARCU, Commerce and “Gestion Administration” (Administrative Management). These 11 students come from different schools in the Val d'Oise county and are very young, an average of 15 years of age, so we take time to educate them to mobility, to identify those who show potential.Their Mobility will also take place in Dublin but in the spring of 2017, at the end of their second year in the Lycée. This will allow a more profitable reinvestment of the benefits brought about by their mobility. Both groups follow additional classes witth specific teachers to prepare them for the mobility. This work is carried out through supplementary lessons students attend for 2 to 3 hours weekly, in order to upgrade their linguistics skills and improve their self-confidence in speaking through various activities (text study, questions on videos, audio files, role plays about everyday life or professional situations, in parallel with their progress in this area). We continue this linguistic, cultural and professional preparation throughout their curriculum until and beyond their mobility, in order to help them reinvest their new abilities in the sharing of their experience and towards their success in the specific test of the Baccalaureat. Our project is based on the following : - an early recruitment to give the best conditions for an efficient training, - a dynamic and experienced team of teachers, organized as a linguistic and non-linguistic pair. Each of them is in charge of a group of participants during the 3 years of training for the BTEC exam, - the aim to achieve a strong, balanced, efficient and long lasting relationship with our placement partner, - our participation to european projects such as Lefevre, Ecole Ambassadrice de l'Europe, to stimulate and broaden our actions with the students, - a will to widen the mobility project to many more students, with no compromise between quality and quantity, - the ambition to set new European actions for the Fashion and design sector which is already an identified asset in our school. For the participants one of the aims of this project is a real personal and professional improvement, which will be visible through the BTEC results, on every subject. Should they choose to take their studies further, this will be easier for them, as well as if they prefer to look for a job. For our school, this project should help increasing the general results at the exam and reinforce our attractiveness among the pupils who are willing to study in our vocational school. We also hope it will improve the image of our school in the eye of the parents, guardian organizations, partners, and every company we are working with.Such a project enables to improve our performance, our teaching methods, our experience and to pursue new training goals, as well for the students as for us, teaching or not teaching staff, including those who are not directly involved in the project.Indeed, the positive aspects of the Mobility are not limited to the participants, but have a direct impact on the other students of the selected classes, on the teaching teams and the whole staff of the school.
