Mobilitätsförderung in der beruflichen Bildung
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Vocational College Alsdorf (Berufskolleg Alsdorf in der Stadteregion Aachen) is embedded in the economic region in the "EUREGIO" in the border area to Belgium and the Netherlands. The proximity to university facilities (RWTH Aachen, University of Applied Sciences Aachen / Juelich) with interesting technological future areas characterizes the spectrum of professional requirements in addition to traditional and basic craft and industrial activities in a specific perspective. As part of one of our guiding principles, the aim of the to prepare learners for lifelong learning, with regard to developing their professional qualification portfolio based on a self-determined personality development and on the assumption of responsibility and opportunities for participation in society. Within these mobility measures we want to provide the opportunity for our students to develop their skills with a special focus on doing so within transnational context. The inclusion of a European orientation - as provided within ERASMUS+ - within our framework of design and development of educationa and training opportunities is increasingly important. Together with partners in Finland, Spain and Turkey, and based on mutual support, we want to offer 24 students (from the fields of information technology, automation technology, environmental technology and healthcare) in a first step to conduct four-week internships in selected companies in other European countries. In addition to that the educational staff employed at the vocational college Alsdorf will be offered transnational mobilities as well so as to get the opportunity to explore the respective education systems in the partner countries and forms of cooperation with the respective economic area . Based on this a collegial network amon the participating partner institutions shall be established. Within this framework we would like to enhance measures for trainees. For this we planned 29 mobilities of different duration. With regard to the teaching staff the exploration of the vocational training system in the partner country, forms of cooperation with industry, usability and further development of educational and training opportunities will be main focus areas of interest. We expect individual promotion of competences particularly with regard to technical, linguistic and intercultural dimensions. With regard to the vocational college Alsdorf as educational organization, we expect a qualitative development of our profile by integrating these transnational components into our training programs. This refers to both: internal effects (students, teaching staff) and externally towards our network of local and regional partner organizations as well as the municipal authorities in charge of our college.
