Mobilität der Erzieherinnen
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The population of the EU is about 493 million people. Germany is the most populous country in the European Union. Some 82 million people live on German territory (census of the Federal Statistics Office in 2011). More than 16 million ( approx. 18.9%) people are first or second generation immigrants. According to German government figures every sixth person in Germany is an immigrant. The vast majority of immigrants (approx. 2.7 million) is represented by the turkish community, which makes every sixth immigrant having turkish origin. According to the results of the census by the Federal Statistics Office in the year of 2011, in some german cities the percentage of immigrants make up to 50% of the population, e.g. Offenbach 49%, Frankfurt 42,7% and Stuttgart, the state capital of Baden-Württemberg, 38.6%. In Ulm, where our association FIM is located, the percentage of immigrants is comparable. The percentage of children from immigrants in Kindergarten groups represents up to 30-40%. With our project we aim to help future teachers and participants understanding the culture, family structures and values of these immigrants. In the national education system, teachers play a very important role as a guide for the students. Teachers should be aware when teaching students of diverse backgrounds by knowing the cultural background and values of their students, can help the students integrate in society. and thereby help the community. These students will be given the chance to be understood as infant and in this way will prevent that major problems will occur. We aim to avoid problems which could lead to no expectations of life, aggressive, passive of students and also being anti-social and without confidence. The teachers will get the chance to learn more about this cultural differences on site in order to to improve their knowledge. In this context ,we think that we need to strengthen the pedagogical skills of the participants for the purpose of improve understanding students from different countries. We also aim to strengten topics e.g. multiculturalism, respect towards strangers and intercultural dialogue.
