MObile MOtivated MOdern @ SCHOOL МОбилни МОтивирани МОдерни в училище
Start date: Dec 29, 2015, End date: Dec 28, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The idea of the project MObile MOtivated MOdern @ SCHOOL is prompted by the rapid development of new technologies coming into students’ lives which leads to the need to improve the teaching methods used in class and the introduction of tablets in teachers’ daily work. The implementation of the project is also required by the students’ needs of quality interactive learning. The aim of the project MObile MOtivated MOdern @ SCHOOL is the acquisition of new knowledge about modern teaching methods in order to enhance the motivation of the students at Prirodo-matematicheska gimnazia – Lovech. In a situation of rapid development of technologies, the students’ interest in acquiring new knowledge in the recent years has changed its meaning. The teachers’ inability to meet their interest and expectations leads to passivity in class and students’ lack of motivation to learn using traditional methods. The project includes the participation of thirteen teachers of different subjects in courses in the following European countries: - the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, France and the Czech Republic. The project involves the Assistant Director of Student Affairs, the head of the computer labs, one head teacher, 7 senior teachers and 4 teachers with experience less than 10 years. Three of the participants are heads of departments at school. The participation of foreign language teachers is logical - 4 teachers in English and one in German as a second language; three IT-teachers, two - mathematicians, one representative of the subject areas of history and civilization and music. The topics are: ICT in education course; Using E-learning in the classroom; Tap-swipe-pinch. Tablets changing the way to learn and teach – iPads and Android tablets; Taps-Swipe-pinch into Music. Learning music with iPads; Teacher Refresher Course /in German/; Getting ready for the digital classroom. The teachers will be part of trainings offering new, modern pedagogical methods. The courses offer a variety of methods of cooperation - individual work, workshops, discussions, presentations, teamwork. During the mobility the teachers will improve their technical and language skills; they will receive information about the recent developments and current issues of the different education systems. Moreover, working with colleagues from other European countries will contribute to an intercultural dialogue and cooperation. The training materials and lectures are connected with the use of tablets and new technologies at school, as another source of information and this will bring changes to the role of the teacher in the classroom. All this will lead to new learning methods that will attract the students’ interest, offering them teaching materials in easy and attractive ways. Prior to participation in the courses, the teachers will conduct individual educational and cultural preparation, necessary for the successful project implementation. The expected results are: - improving the teachers’ skills to use ICT in teaching and evaluation of students; - understanding the role of the tablets in education; - acquisition of new techniques and ideas and acquistion of practical language to be used in the classroom; - positive and long-lasting effects on the trainees involved - improvement of the level of key competences and skills; - practical ideas for the classroom; - encouragement of sharing best practices, ideas and materials between colleagues within the EU; - increased capacity to cooperate on international level; - increasing self esteem and confidence in teaching; - raising the teachers’ motivation for lifelong learning; - personal development in terms of understanding other cultures; - gaining knowledge of the structure and basic principles of education systems on a European level; - improvement of language competence of teachers. The project will have a strong impact on students: increased interest in learning; changing the role of the students from passive listeners into active participants; increasing pupils’ motivation through group work and the development of communication skills. In the long term we predict the teachers to use tablets in their everyday work, the acquired knowledge in the field of methodology and the didactic materials, and to multiply their experience on school and regional level. The project will also contribute to the European dimension of the school. The project organizers guarantee giving certificates for mobility and EUROPASS, which will contribute to the transparency of the skills acquired during the mobility.
