The European Council ratified a comprehensive Treaty of Lisbon in 2007, in which the attention of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in different sectors of human activity (transportation, energetics, ...). The European Commission in 2012 also supported ECF's initiative Roadmap 2050 with main objectives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80% - 95% by 2050. The project Mladinske organizacije znižujejo CO2 addresses the problem of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide, sustainable development and environmental protection in Slovenia and Croatia. In Slovenia each individual creates an annual average of 9.9 t CO2, which is above average compared to other countries of the European Union (EU-27 individual creates 9.2 t CO2). In the case of Croatia's is carbon footprint significantly lower (4.9 t). The largest source of CO2 are industrial plants and large companies, where is use of energy and materials often unreasonable. Because of that the value of the carbon footprint and waste is increasing. The project "Mladinske organizacije znižujejo CO2" follows the policy of the European Commission to raise awareness and transformation of the youth sector towards a low carbon activities. The main purpose of the project is to raise awareness of the youth sector in Slovenia and Croatia in the field of sustainable development to reduce energy consumption and carbon footprint. The initial goal of the project is the analysis of sources and literature already existing examples of good practice in the field of the selected issues at home and abroad. The project is innovative and combines an analysis of existing examples of good practice of carbon footprint reduction and education on sustainable development at home and in Croatia. The project will be a major contribution for the youth sector in our country and in Croatia in the field of environmental protection by promoting the activity of young people. They can be educated multipliers (peer educators to work in schools and youth leaders and workers to work in youth organizations) that will multiply the effect. In this project our learning objectives are: - At least 100 of educated young people and youth workers in the field of measuring and reducing carbon footprint; - 2 certified partner organization in the field of measuring and reducing the carbon footprint; - 2 partner organizations to implement measures to reduce CO2 in their operations; - 4 young people with a unique experience of hosting and operating in the field of CO2 reduction in the partner organization. Participants in the various activities of the project will be selected by each of the partner organizations. MZTR and association OAZA are working with young people and are familiar with this field. Both organizations are youth organizations and on project's activities will be invited people from 15 to 30 years. Our unwritten rule activities is also equally in both sexes representation. This will be achieved through the application form for our activities. We with partners will invite other oung people who are not directly involved in our or partner organization. This will encourage active participation of young people, what is also told by Erasmus + Youth in Action. The main activities of the project are: - Getting to know the methods of reducing and measuring carbon footprint - obtaining certificates. - Implementing of guidelines for CO2 reduction in MZTR and OASIS. - Exchange of two candidates from each of the partner countries that will work on the implementation of measures to reduce carbon footprint - Active reducing the carbon footprint - Collecting measurements and results of active reducing carbon footprint and their analysis - Evaluation of the project where partners will develop a plan to guide on the topic of the project. Output and success of the objectives will be measurable and supervised by Umanotera. The success will be evaluated during the project and after its completion. In the project's program evaluations are planed with various techniques that will help to assess the objectives accomplished . We want to share collected experiences and results of the project with others and we do not want to keep as intellectual property. Projects' success can contribute to the awareness that the long-term prosperity.
