Mind your heritage!
Start date: Apr 1, 2013,

Nowadays there is a real problem existing in the historical cities of Europe. The old buildings that represent the cultural heritage and reflect on the history of the city and its citizens, are being demolished or rebuilt and transformed into modern hotels and office buildings, leaving both the citizens and visitors without a connection to the past and their roots. We, young Europeans, feel that this undermines the cultural diversity of Europe and therefore action should be taken to value and safeguard our heritage. The Youth Exchange ‘Mind Your Heritage!’ aims to support the involvement of young people in the sustainable development of urban communities and to promote the understanding of the importance of protection of cultural heritage both on national and international level. The youth exchange will take place during June 10-17, 2013 in Costesti village near capital of Moldova, Chisinau. There will be an international group of 30 young people from 3 EU countries – Lithuania, Greece and Poland, and from 3 EECA countries – Moldova, Ukraine and Armenia. The total duration of the project is 8 days, including the arrival and departure days. The applicant organization ADVIT Moldova has hosting and sending role in the project. The project aims to raise the awareness of the European community and local authorities on the cultural heritage of the city of Chisinau, namely its architectural monuments, built during the 18-20th centuries. The activities planned by the organizers will encourage the participants to demonstrate their creativity towards the realization of the common goals and therefore will contribute to the personal development of competences. The following methods will be used to achieve the common goals:- old city quest- team building exercises- strategic action planning - work in groups on project development- group and individual reflections- group and individual evaluations- theoretical inputs and plenary presentations
