Message Out Da Hood...
Start date: Aug 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

One Belgian group of 16 young people and one group of 16 Portuguese young people with one same main-interest in urban music & arts and one same goal: creating chances for talent development. These two groups will work together to create a mobile 'stage' with a cargo bike... This cargo bike has chargeable batteries, microphones, music hard- and software to perform instantly, anywhere they are. So they can go to the young people in streets and on the squares instead of they have to come to a specific place. It's a more accessible and spontaneous way of working, something the volunteers themselves always missed. They will develop workshops and training for youngsters in the suburbs of Lisbon to work with this mobile stage and to learn how to make urban arts. In this way they want to give these youngsters a chance to experiment, to develop talents, to give them a 'voice'... That's the way they trigger them to participate in a more long-term urban music & arts processes after this project. Next to the mobile stage project the Portuguese and Belgian volunteers will participate in a collaborative production, in order to learn from each other, to get influenced by the different cultures; social, political and economical situations; the differences and the matches between the groups... all themes that are typical for urban arts. During the whole process the participants will make a road movie to show how active participation can achieve a lot. The main aims of this project are to achieve by participation of young people the creation of chances for young people with fewer opportunities by using urban music/arts as a tool to give young people a 'voice' on social, economic, and other (European) themes and to use cultural diversity, with its differences and similarities as a strenght and a source of inspiration.
