As Çan Teknik ve Endüstri Meslek Lisesi (Çan Technical and Industrial Vocational High School) the project we have presented to contribute to the decrease of male students dropping out of vocational high schools has 7 local partners. These institutions are Çan Teknik ve Endüstri Meslek Lisesi (Çan Technical and Industrial Vocational High School), Çan Ticaret Meslek Lisesi (Çan Vocational High School of Trade), Çan Kız Teknik ve Meslek Lisesi (Çan Technical and Vocational High School for Girls) , Çanakkale Teknik ve Endüstri Meslek Lisesi, Denizcilik Anadolu Meslek Lisesi (Çanakkale Technical and Industrial Vocational High School and Maritime Anatolian Vocational High School), Gazi Teknik ve Endüstri Meslek Lisesi (Gazi Technical and Industrial Vocational High School), Vehbi Koç Vakfı Otelcilik ve Turizm Meslek Lisesi (Vehbi Koç Vakfı Tourism and Hospitality Vocational High School), and Mehmet Akif Ersoy Teknik ve Endüstri Meslek Lisesi (Mehmet Akif Ersoy Technical and Industrial Vocational High School). It is possible to seize both our country’ and the EU’s 2020 objective to decrease the number of dropouts below %10 or to make a great contribution to that, only by decreasing the number of male students who drop out of vocational high schools. Because approximately %70 of dropouts in our schools take place in vocational secondary education institutions.
Out of the 7 local partners of our project, a total of 31 professional trainers will participate in the mobility activities. According to our programme 9 participants will attend educational activities between 09.11.2014-23.11.2014 in Spain, 10 participants between 22.03.2015-05.04.2015 in the Netherlands, and 12 participants between 17.05.2015-31.05.2015 in Denmark.
The participants of our project will consist of the administrators, guidance counsellors and vocational course teachers of the local partners. Among more than 300 candidates who fit our criteria, our participants will be selected objectively and transparently, and before their educational activities abroad they will get a foreign language education. In the choice of participants, the EU projects they had previously participated in, the number and quality of the in-service training they received, the local projects they carried out, their foreign language skills and graduate degrees, if any, will be effective. There will be an executive board of 10 participants that will be chosen among our participants and will include a representative from each local institution. This board will be responsible for monitoring the activities and participants’ performances, writing the evaluation reports, organizing the meetings, accrediting the certificates, purchasing the travel tickets, organizing accomodation, dealing with the passport and visa issues, completing the assignment documents, obtaining the participants’ travel insurance, managing the project budget, and establishing communication between the participants and institutions. Furthermore, our participants will do research on the male students who drop out of vocational high schools and complete their preliminaries preceding the educational activities. They will share the knowledge they get abroad with their colleagues in their own institutions after the mobility activities. The certificates that will be presented at the end of the training will be accredited by the Ministry of Education. Thus they will be able to pass the knowledge of their newly acquired skills to their colleagues around the world through in-service trainings such as courses and seminars. They will receive a participation certificate from their own institutions. Besides, the certificates they receive in Europe will be used to identify their professional competence in Europass certificates and will be added to their Europass Cvs.
Our participants will learn to determine the negative effects of the current educational process on the dropouts. They will examine the curricula of the European countries. They will learn to give students the right guidance in their choice of profession. They will learn to use the scaling devices for teachers which identify the risk of dropping out, to use these tests and questionnaires, to analyse the results, and to apply the appropriate prevention activities depending on the evaluation of these results.
All output related to our project will be shared via the official website of our school. Moreover, videos related to our work will be uploaded on Youtube. Photos and videos will be shared via a Facebook group, and both written and visual data regarding the project output will be shared with the local and national media.
