PROJECT
FINISHED
Our project aims at giving our students, who are at the stage of choosing their profession, the chance to make their choices without gender bias, based on their personal interests, skills and capacities, and thus finding a solution to this significant problem in our country. The fact that many of our students do not like their departments plays an important role in their choice to quit high school. Besides, many students are not able to get the kind of professional training that would make them happy and productive due to their gender. In our country, women’s employment is quite low; to increase women’s employment and thereby to decrease the national unemployment rate, female students should be able to get a greater variety of professional training. The ultimate object of our project is to contribute to the balancing of the number of female and male students in all departments of vocational high schools.
Our project will include 33 participants who will be selected among the administrators, department heads and guidance counsellors of Hatice Hikmet Oğultürk Kız Teknik ve Meslek Lisesi (Hatice Hikmet Oğultürk Technical and Vocational High School for Girls), Ulus Teknik ve Endüstri Meslek Lisesi (Ulus Technical and Industrial Vocational High School), Muş Kız Teknik ve Meslek Lisesi (Muş Technical and Vocational High School for Girls), Iğdır Teknik ve Endüstri Meslek Lisesi (Iğdır Technical and Industrial Vocational High School), Hakkari Anadolu Sağlık Meslek Lisesi (Hakkari Anatolian Vocational High School of Health), and Manavgat İMKB Ticaret ve Anadolu Ticaret Meslek Lisesi (Manavgat Anatolian Vocational High School of Trade).
Among the 210 candidates the participants will be selected via a transparent method, taking into consideration their interest in the subject, the number and content of in-service training they previously had, the length of their academic education, and the EU projects they had previously participated in. 9 participants will be placed in France between 02.11.2014-16.11.2014, 12 in the Netherlands between 25.01.2015-08.02.2015, and 12 in Italy between 12.04.2015-26.04.2015.
Following the affirmation of the project, briefings will be held in the participating institutions and then the participants will be determined. Among the participants an executive team will be selected and these people will be responsible for the whole organization. They will have foreign language courses and receive a certificate attested by the Ministry of Education. At the stage of placement abroad, daily reports will be written and evaluations will be made. The certificates that will be presented at the end of the training abroad will be accredited by our Ministry of Education. Together with the dissemination activities, a final report will be prepared.
The participants of our project will reach the broadest area possible through meetings in institutions, by sending the report to nearby institutions, by participating in in-service trainings, and by forwarding the information and visuals to the media. For the long-term success of our project, it has to be widespread.
Each student will be able to choose a profession that fits their taste and nature, through which the rate of profession-individual compatibility will increase. Thus, there will be a decrease in the rate of quitting high school or working in a different field after graduation. Consequently, there will be an increase in the individuals’ satisfaction and self-confidence, which will contribute to the increase of individual productivity and thereby of social productivity and satisfaction. Furthermore, it will help women get vocational education in different fields and contribute to our country’s attainment of its strategic development goals which is an element of its sustainable development. Thus, it will also help us comply with the strategic goals of the EU.
