The project will take place in Bolzano / Bozen , South Tyrol . The province is the most northern of Italy and borders with Austria and Switzerland. Due to the historical presence of a German-speaking minority and a minority of native speakers of Ladin , the province enjoys a special Statute of Autonomy . The project will be coordinated by " Volontarius Onlus" association, which will also be the host organization . The association was founded in 1999 and is involved in projects concerning assistance , listen and the accompaniment of homeless people , refugees, foreigner minors without family , youth, adults and families in need. The association works with approximately 50 employees and 80 volunteers. The EVS volunteers involved are 3 and come from Spain, from Georgia and from Russia. The EVS will have a duration of 12 months, in which the volunteers will work in the different context of the association, with 1-2 main activities . The activities will be focused in part on welcoming the guests, in part on the logistics ( preparation or distribution of meals, booking washing machines, etc ... ) and partly on the realization of recreational activities or knowledge of the area . The aims of the project are many : the volunteers will learn how to deal with people in difficult situations , and to combat the stereotypes attached to it. They will develop different skills , such as working in a multicultural team , live with people from different backgrounds , language, culture and religion , learn Italian, European and international regulations, learning about the social work and about addictions , first aid; learn a new language and be able to develop further the knowledge of other languages, develop activity of "free time" for the guests of the structures . The learning will be especially practical through the gradual accompaniment and support into activity by the project coordinator and the responsibles of the activities. The impact of the activity will be carried out through the various channels of the association, in particular circulars and magazines that will be spread throughout the province. Long-term benefits will be there for the guests of the projects and for the whole territory, that will discover new potentials and will have possibilities to open minds to the outside world and new cultures and traditions ; but also for the volunteers themselves, who will return in the countries of origin enriched with these new experiences .
