Meeting of Minds - Stereotypes!
Start date: Jul 5, 2010,

Meeting of Minds-Stereotypes-is an eight day youth project where young people, through the primal experience of theatre, face the problems of stereotyping and prejudice and the consequent apathy of the individual leading to the stratification of society. The project will involve four groups of young people from Great Britain, Lithuania, the Czech Republic and Slovenia. Each country will deal with the main theme, stereotypes, through a theatre performance which will be presented during the exchange. Using the performance each director will give a full day's workshop on the subject of streotypes. The workshop will demonstrate his/her method of working and will involve all participants. It is also envisaged that the director will be a young person. After these presentations and workshops all participants, under the leadership of the four directors, will work together to prepare a theatrical performance which will present their views on the problems of stereotyping and prejudice against an individual or a nation. They will also explore the predicaments posed by nationalism, isolationism and the growth of europhobia. They will use the experience of the performances and the workshops as a basis for their work.Through the process of making the performance the participants will identifiy shared values and objectives. In addition we will organise two round tables for the young people:1 The importance of creativity in the socialisation of the individual. (Community Theatre)2 Non-verbal theatre- a common European language.
