PROJECT
FINISHED
Meet the Myths is a project which aims to help young people explore and develop their cultural identity and the cultural identity of their country. This will be achieved with small scale acting and workshops combining myths and role playing. The participants will be people accustomed to acting and prepared to devote themselves to teach people about myths. Participants will also be working in international groups called family groups to strengthen the bond between partners and in national groups to promote cooperation between participants from the same country. Learning about and working on other country's myths will make every participant more accepting of culture in general and especially more accepting of the country they are learning about. We believe that knowledge can help people develop deeper bonds with each other. In the long term this will promote European citizenship and make Europeans more neighbor-friendly. We also aim to disseminate our results to the people who didn't get the chance to participate in our project by making a scrapbook of the myths we where working on during the project. First, this will be made available to our partners and the local community in the form of a presentation and exposition, and afterwards, upon its completion, we will display the results in the form of an e-book, so that everyone can gain access to the knowledge hidden in the book.
A German linguist once said: " The world is as big as your language skills make it." We also think this is applicable here. Your cultural identity is enriched by every other culture you get to experience. Myths and lore are an important part of culture, therefore the more myths a person knows, the more tolerant and understanding he or she will be.
