Meet MI talents
Start date: Jan 1, 2015, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Meet MI talents offers a non-formal learning journey, which aims at exploring the Multiple Intelligences (Howard Gardner) that can be used to support (youth) leaders in their work with youth organizations and young people and to raise their awareness about themselves and others. In particular, the course will: * explore what the Multiple Intelligences are about and reflect on the impact on learning for (young) adults * gain new knowledge and experience on alternative learning/non-formal methods based on the Multiple Intelligences * exchange with other participants from different countries and backgrounds the use of Multiple Intelligences * return home with many new tools on all of the different intelligences * take ideas on how to apply Multiple Intelligences in one's own setting and how to face the challenges at home in different ways Meet MI talents consists of 3 training activities - one main international 5-day-training with 18 learners from Austria, Estonia, Italy and Hungary. For this event the participants consist not only of a mix of people coming from different countries, but also of a mix from different backgrounds (e.g. young people with an alternative care background, leaders from Non-profit-organisations, trainers/consultants supporting people privately and professionally) in order to learn from each other and enhance even more learning. For the young care leaders from Estonia there is a follow-up training planned in Estonia to strengthen the knowledge and allow even more Estonian participants (12 people) to gain knowledge on the Multiple Intelligences. 2 trainers from Austria will hold the training with the support of the participants of the first event. The third training will be held for 10 trainers at National level in Italy and has the purpose to disseminate the knowledge and tool at local level. One trainer from Austria will support them in the dissemination. The methods used are active non-formal educational methods, which allow the learner to experience new ways of learning. One important corner stone is that the whole training will be run outside of a classical seminar-venue. Each day brings a new location (forest, coffee-house, a venue in town, a park etc.), which support the specific intelligence addressed. The Multiple Intelligences are a tool to learn about your own strengths and weaknesses. The participants as learners will develop through the training skills on 3 levels: on a personal level – becoming more aware about oneself, on a social level becoming more aware about the other and on a leadership level knowing more about how they lead a group and why they behave the way they do. Additionally they will go out of the training with a set of tools for the 9 intelligences, which Gardner defined and which they can use in their work with the volunteers. The impact of the trainings will be for the participants that they: - gain personally a better understanding of their unique set of Multiple Intelligences - their personal strengths - realize and learn to see in the other people where are their strengths and weakness - they will take home a set of tool to work on the Multiple Intelligences with their target group in future - gain motivation through the experience of the training The impact on the participating organisation: - they have volunteer and staff members who come home with a high degree of motivation and a better understanding of their own strengths and weaknesses - they will receive a set of tool on how to discover the Multiple Intelligences which they can share with their colleagues - through the participants the organisation has gained a new knowledge, which they can provide for their target groups The benefit of such kind of trainings lies in everyone (learners and trainers) coming home with motivation and some new ideas. If they find power and passion to make a change or come up with something fresh for their community, where they are active in, then this will have a long-lasting affect.
