Media, Health and Young People
Start date: Jan 1, 2015, End date: Nov 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Youth organisations have an important part in youth lives and this project will help us to show importance of youth organisations in providing the knowledge and awareness about healthy life style for the young people. We want to show them that they have to be critical about the messages that they get from the media on daily basis regarding this topic. The main activity of the project will be a seminar on media and healthy lifestyle for youth workers and youth leaders from different countries across the Europe. The seminar will take place in Izola between 21 and 26 June 2015. Participants (23) that will attend the seminar will come from the following countries: Croatia, Estonia, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal, Romania, Sweden, Turkey and Slovenia. Work will be divided on lectures, group work, study visits, discussions, etc., and will help us to raise awareness about the importance of healthy lifestyle within youth organisations, as institutions that can help to develop habits of the young people and the importance of the role that media have in education of young people. The expected contribution for participants is increased knowledge of the impact that media have on the development of a healthy lifestyle among young people, how the advertising and marketing influences perception of the story, how to identify scientifically dubious story that was published in the media and how to think critically about the impact of the media and industries on our lives. In addition, the value added for the participant as members of their own organisations is to recognize the importance of their own organisations in developing critical thinking of young people and their perspective on the health.
