MEDA Youth Immigration,Italy - study visit

The study visit involved 8 countries and 22 social educators / youth workers / volunteers working with young people with few opportunities in the countries of origin and focused on the action-reaction of the cause and effect of migration flews coming from the countries of the Mediterranean area. The Italian staff (specialized in caring and taking in charge of the child / young migrants) showed some of the effects of this phenomenon to give the countries of the Mediterranean area a different views to work on the causes. The purpose of the study visit was to offer to the countries of the Mediterranean basic information to better understand the needs of young people so as to develop and plan the best answers to the needs of local young people by offering them more tools to improve their educational and social cohesion and, new tools for the right to choose a migration conscious. Instead, the Mediterranean countries have offered to European countries involved, intercultural tools for a better understanding of the culture of origin and to enhance the level of skills and the skills of youth workers in Europe to promote intercultural dialogue and inter-religious, social inclusion and solidarity for young immigrants in European countries in the Mediterranean. The activities, by a non-formal learning methodologies have been: meetings with young migrants (ages 13/30); panel discussions with experts in the field of youth migration, to facilitate the learning process of the participants and to give them a different perspective on youth issues in the countries of origin. The objectives and priorities of this project were: to improve the quality of interventions to promote progress in youth work and / or other stakeholders; stimulate and encourage mutual understanding and cultural understanding among young people of the Euro-Mediterranean area; fight stereotypes and prejudices and promote active citizenship among young people and enhance their sense of solidarity. The countries involved were: Jordan, Morocco, Palestine, Italy, UK, Spain, Malta, Tunisia.
