Skill Up answers the urgent priority established by Europe 2020 policies of promoting graduates' employability by means of strengthen ties between higher education and VET curricula and the labour world through authentic learning scenarios and career counselling and guidance. The project sets the stage for scaling up innovative learning approaches, ICT-based methodologies, greater inter-sector cooperation, and the European-wide transfer of a replicable process that responds to real world work demands.Through a strong transnational strategic cooperation between 6 partners (four universities with diverse backgrounds - online and face-to-face settings, as well applied, technical and labour market oriented -, an online VET institution, and an employer representative) from three European countries (Spain, Sweden and Germany), we will engage higher education and VET teaching staff, career counsellors, undergraduates, graduates and employers’ stakeholders to create real, practical, scalable ways to enhance new graduates' employability skills by improving the connection between HE curricula with the demands of the labour market. Our specific objectives are thus defined:- Map best practices in matching graduates' skills and labour market demands through authentic learning scenarios in partners' HE settings. The level of authenticity of a learning scenario is related to how far its design (including tasks, environment, resources, scaffolding and assessment) matches the real-life skills that graduates will need when entering the labour world.- Improve soft and hard employability skills of undergraduates by means of designing, developing, applying and evaluating 14 authentic learning scenarios in 9 HE programmes identified by partners as priorities.- Promote the wider take-up of our methods and results to targeted early-adopters and both national and international multipliers of innovation and policy decision-makers, equipping them with a set of indicative principles, guidelines and best practices for aligning Higher Education and VET curricula with the labour world.- Enhance access to career counselling and guidance services for undergraduates by training tutors in Career Counselling with emphasis in e-Counselling by means of a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course). - Implement and promote a virtual environment that acts as a hub for attracting stakeholders offering guidance to labour market newcomers and real hands-on experiences in professional world as part of students learning. These objectives will be achieved by way of a) close partnership collaboration for the smooth and efficient running of the project and the development of high quality Intellectual Outputs; b) cross-sector design that bring together faculty staff, undergraduates, graduates associations and employers stakeholders for the development of mutually beneficial exchanges and new opportunities.Indeed, our project: a) builds in flexible and transferrable-to-other-sectors processes for creating and delivering new content and support services; b) opens up new ways for research and technology to improve the results so far; and c) sets the bases for more internationalization initiatives by each institution in collaboration again or apart.
