MASTER DEGREE ON INFORMATICS AND TELECOMMUNICATION: EU EXPERIENCE FOR TAJIKISTAN

The main goal of this project is the promotion of the high-education European system in Tajikistan. To this purpose, a new master-level curriculum in Informatics and Telecommunications is going to be developed insome Tajik Universities in cooperation and under the supervision of some expert EU universities. In fact, advanced education in ICT topics and enhancing ICT services is one of Tajik national priorities. In short the main specific objectives of MEDIATE are:- Design of a master-level Tajik curriculum on ICT subjects.- Promotion of the Bologna standard in Tajikistan.- Support of Tajik universities and teachers in the implementation of the novel curriculum in cooperation with the Tajik Ministry of education and with a local TV organization that might employ newly graduated students.During the project realisation Tajik teachers will be trained in EU on most recent ICT subjects (i.e. including complex data and knowledge management, distributed systems, computer networking, wireless networking, mobile computing, human-computer interactions, web technologies, and electronics). The curriculum will prepare a new generation of computer and telecommunication specialists, high-skilled in computer science, telecommunications and electronics, able to contribute to the economic evolution of Tajikistan.The consortium members have a long experience of joint activities and they are able to achieve the project objectives. Indeed, all EU universities are well known as important national centres for teaching computer science and communication engineering and all of them are compliant with the Bologna system in their own countries. The new curriculum will be accredited in accordance with national Tajikistan rules within the project lifespan, and it is expected to start by the end of the second year of the project.
