Search for European Projects

Martin-Butzer-Gymnasium goes Europe - Erwerb von Kompetenzen des interkulturellen europäischen Projektmanagements und Networkings zum Ausbau unseres Profils als Europaschule
Start date: Jul 1, 2016, End date: Jun 30, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

In a multicultural world the necessity to own intercultural competences has grown tremendously within the last decade. The requirements at our schools have changed likewise as we have to prepare our students for the European and international labour market. In addition to our subject-based curriculum, we have a growing demand in intercultural skills and multidisciplinary competences which enable students and teachers for the intercultural dialogue in a global world. Improving intercultural skills goes beyond mere language learning, which by now has become self-explanatory. What is more important than a thorough knowledge of Englisch, French or Spanish, is the capacity to be able to communicate with speakers from different cultural backgrounds, work together effenciently to meet the needs of the European market. We therefore hope that the project we're currently applying to will improve the intercultural skills and project management skills aof our teachers, enable them to have sufficient language skills and to be willing to spread the European idea and integrate European values in their teaching. The intercultural competence shall be implemented in the lesson plans and school profile of our European School. We also hope to find new partner schools in Europe in order to start new projects with Erasmus+.The training will also enable our teachers to inspire both, students and staff, for more European projects and use the project work as a means to expand the students' intercultural and language competences.Additionally, we want to be prepared to meet the growing needs of intercultural competences within our own school when dealing with migrant children and refugees.Altogether four teachers who have already a certain experience in intercultural work (through student exchange etc.) or little experience in intercultural skills) should participate in the training course. They should have sufficient language skills of the Englisch language and be willing to spread the European idea to colleagues and students and implement it in our curriculum. We would like to encourage the participation of teachers with different sujects (languages, science, maths, social studies) to have a wide range of European teachers at our school.
