The project is based on training needs identified in maritime education and training sector in order to provide prospective seafarers with higher qualifications and competencies to ensure them an international lead. This has to start with the upgrading of competencies of lecturers at maritime educational institutions. The project will identify, analyse and describe the best educational practices for maritime lecturers and consider the validity of formal and informal education as well as professional experience. Furthermore, the project will develop a European virtual learning space for maritime educational institutions and eventually, and produce, test and evaluate a pilot e-learning course for maritime lecturers.
