Malopolska Researchers’ Night 2009 (RESEARCHERS 4U)
Start date: Jun 1, 2009, End date: Nov 30, 2009 PROJECT  FINISHED

"Southern Poland will go science mad on 25 September 2009, the third such event in as many years. In Kraków, Tarnów and Nowy Sącz, cities forming part of the “Where the researchers work” route, researchers will come out of the confines of their laboratories and lecture halls, in which they spend their days making discoveries and exploring the frontiers of knowledge, to show their other face. Researchers’ Night will provide a chance to meet and interact with researchers not only in their everyday work environment, but also in unexpected situations and venues. Researchers will, in their turn, have an opportunity to challenge stereotypes by casting themselves in entirely new roles: as theatre actors, film directors and many more. Participants in Researchers’ Night will become acquainted with the cutting edge of scientific discovery. This will be a unique opportunity to get in touch with “true” science by exploring places that are otherwise inaccessible to the public: laboratories and other research facilities. Everybody will be able to approach researchers with questions. The project is based on a formula of hands-on demonstrations, dazzling experiments, entertaining discussions, amusing plays and interesting workshops and is designed to ensure that there will be enough variety for everyone to find something interesting to do. Malopolska Researchers’ Night is becoming a regular fixture on the region’s calendar of events. The previous year’s project attracted as many as 15,000 participants, providing us with experience to build on for future success. Malopolska Researchers’ Night 2009 will take place in Kraków – Poland’s most beautiful city, a centre of science and the seat of the oldest university in Eastern Europe – and in Tarnów and Nowy Sącz, new but rapidly growing research centres in Malopolska Voivodeship."
