The "Malax Art part2 " project is the continuity of the youth exchange of july 2013.
It will bring 45 (boys and girls) young people aged of 15 to 18 years old, from the outskirt of Toulouse (France), from Madrid (Spain) and from Rugaji (Latvia).
The youth french are from a rural city, and from middle-class families and they are all going to school.
The youth spanish are from a really disadvantaged area of Madrid.
The youth latvian are from a rural town, and their families got an economically disadvantaged income (300 euros of average wage).
This meeting will take place Rugaji, a city who is located at 200km at the East of Riga, the capital of Latvia, on the 25 of July to the 5 of August 2014.
The chosen medias for this meeting are the knowledge of the local craft and the environment. The youth enrolled on the youth exchange project will have the opportunity to subscribe on one of those workshops :
1 - Stained glass workhop : learn how to cut glass and put it on plumb. Execution of a common artwork who will be exposed in the city hall of Rugaji.
2 - Weaving workshop : learn how to weave on a loom (with 4 blades) direct and indirect warpings, calculation for the chain, editing by direct warping of 3 samples of wool or cotton, production of 4 decorative pieces.
3 - Workshop bread oven : Study materials and find the necessary quality : lumber, lime, clay soil , sand , straw, flat stones for sole, dry leaves and wood for burning . All materials are local. Study and design of the structure.
The oven will thus made accessible to people of Rugaji as a friendly meeting point.
4 - Workshop sanitation wetland :
- Study field
- Reflection on the various feasible solutions : conservation of fauna and flora, costing , etc ...
- Selection and implementation of drainage elements , both technical and plants.
The objectives who will be developed together with the three partners:
- Provide opportunities for every young person to express themselves through those media.
- Give the opportunity to justify their choices, the report of their own culture.
- The question of how these " arts" can facilitate professional integration in a European dimension.
For the methodology of this project we plan to:
Times of exchanges in a large group
- Informal exchanges time during moments of daily life
- Physical activity or sport
- Theme nights ( culinary exchanges).
- Cultural visits .
The exchange will take place in Rugaji and the accommodations will be in the boarding school of Rugaji .
Participants should withdraw this exchange experience in project design, in terms of skills transfer, acquisition techniques, they can develop and utilize in their future professional experiences. In addition, this project will provide an opportunity for young people to fit into a network they can mobilize and grow again later in their careers . Finally, the wealth of artistic , cultural and social decompartmentalization them bring a new openness towards society and a better understanding of its operation and taking into account that everyone can be a lever for its evolution.
