PROJECT
FINISHED
The project MEDEUYM is finalised to empower of young people and youth organisations in the decision making process at EU level. This empowerment will be finalised during a 5 days international youth conference. Thanks to the project activities, from the preparatory stage to the online consultation and the final international meeting, 75 young people will increase their awareness of the participative rights as EU citizens. The discussion will concern the three topics of the project: 1) empowerment through participation; 2) empowerment through social inclusion and volunteering; 3) empowerment through social media. Through common sharing of ideas and elaboration of policy recommendation we wish also to contribute to enrich the discussions of the current round of structured dialogue in the youth field.Partners and tutors will assume a key role, as they will encourage the participants to re-build their trust towards the national and European policy makers. In fact they will work to re-launch a dialogue with policy makers, which was lost in this time of crisis. Also social media will have a key role in the project, as they are currently the communication tools mostly used by young people: through their use the young people will discuss, share information and dialogue with EU policy makers that deal with youth policies. During a first stage, the selected participants will be involved in local preparatory workshops for a better understanding of the structured dialogue methodology and of the EU youth strategy in the topics. During this stage social media will be also used to: 1) keep the contacts among all the participants; 2) launch a public survey on the three topics of the project; 3) contact policy makers, starting an exchange of views on the topic mentioned above. The main activity is a 5-day international youth seminar, during which 75 young participants will present the final policy recommendation to decision-makers. The document will summarise their opinions on the discussed topics, a description of their main needs and some proposals for innovative policy solutions on the matters concerned. The meeting will be based on the replication of the structured dialogue methodology through which national needs and proposals are jointly considered from a transnational point of view. At the end of the project a stronger relation among the participants will be built with policy makers with the long-term scope of participating to the international debates on youth at EU level.
