MAKING AND ANALYZING FILMS – AN INNOVATIVE INSTRUMENT FOR SOCIAL INCLUSION AND LEARNING LANGUAGES

The Project promotes social inclusion of learners through visual communication skills, film-making and analysis, improving mother tongue, English language skills and knowledge of partner countries' languages and cultures. To begin, learners become familiar with History of Film and expand Film related vocabulary in mother tongue and English. Then each partner chooses its country’s feature film and documentary, which reflect the country’s realities and personality and send to other partners. Learners watch their country’s and partner countries’ feature films and documentaries in original languages and learn to analyze them. By watching and analyzing films they get knowledge about European Film Art and learn about other countries culture, social life and history.Next, learners get basic knowledge of filmmaking: script-writing, directing, shooting editing. Finally they make short films on cultural, historical, social, environmental, political and economical themes. All partner countries learners make films on the same topic at the same period. They decide themselves what aspects of the given topic to cover. Learners of different age, background and education work in groups. They write a script and make a short film. During project meetings learners make short films about the hosting country on a topic chosen by the host institution. Learners are divided into international groups. Each group makes a film in English. By participating, learners take an active part in social life, reveal their creativity, increase knowledge on European countries culture, history and social life, improve their mother tongue, English and ICT skills, get motivation for lifelong learning and discover a film as an attractive instrument for communication, self expression and learning.
