Mainstreaming EU Knowledge in Business Studies and Strategies (MEKBiz) is a one-year, multi-phased and multi-dimensional project which aims to promote discussion, research and teaching on EU issues within the specific context of its host institution, ESADE business school. Later, by providing open access to the teaching resources developed, other EU teaching institutions will be able to do the same, producing a multiplier effect.ESADEgeo, ESADE business school’s department of global economy and geopolitics, presided by former EU High Representative for CFSP Javier Solana, studies the impacts of globalization along four main lines (Global Governance, Global Political Risk, Global Economy and EU-China Business Relations). In this project, the Center is driven by needs identified within the business school and EU businesses. MEKBiz aims to profoundly and practically analyze the relation between European firms in their EU environment and the globalized world. This analysis will be developed at an international workshop involving internal and external experts and will be distilled into eight thematic chapters, disseminated in the form of an e-book with a prologue by Javier Solana. The conclusions will be debated and presented at three open-format conferences (one at ESADE Barcelona/Madrid and two at a relevant partner organization, such as Georgetown University, The Brookings Institution, or LSE) with participation by policy-makers and members of civil society. Secondly, the research will be developed into innovative academic content and tools which will be test-run in ESADE’s teaching programs and then made available as open access educational resources. The outputs (a research book, teaching sessions and a collection of innovative teaching resources) developed in this project will benefit both students – who will gain practical knowledge to improve their employability – and EU businesses in search of strategies to operate within the changing, globalized world.
