MAGISTHERE : European training in heritage enhancement professions
The MAGISTHERE project has several objectives: to respond to the growing and currently unmet needs of local authorities across Europe in the field of heritage mediation, to match staffing needs and training, to draw up standard training content among the participating countries (IT, FR, ES, HU, CZ), to enable people involved in heritage mediation to supplement their skills and lastly to contribute to the mobility of heritage mediators in Europe. Continuing training schemes will be drawn up and tried out for three types of profession: guide-lecturers, heritage educators and heads of local heritage development projects. There are also plans to set up a co-European diploma between universities. The results will be published and made available on several websites. The target groups are decision-makers from the regional authorities, training establishments, heritage and tourism experts and young graduates needing some extra training. The results will be disseminated throughout the project by different means: trade publications, local press, local, national and European Internet sites. The Council of Europe and the International Council of Monuments and Sites will provide back-up for the project and will contribute to its dissemination.
