Made in SUD (Sustainability Understanding Development)
Start date: Jan 13, 2016, End date: Jan 12, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Made in SUD (Sustainability Understanding development) is an youth exchange that wants to get close cultures and peoples through languages, considered also as traditional cultural expressions (dialects, slang and theater.). The concept of Europe is still vague, as well as the comparison with other cultures and the principle of active citizenship in the imagination of young people are empty topics. Through mutual knowledge of languages and authentic expressions of the peoples (folklore), young people can understand European values with a direct experience. The project will take place in Torre del Greco (Province of Naples), a town that even has a significant cultural and artistic potential, related mostly to the traditions, live strong consequences connected to the crisis. There is a shortage of facilities and opportunities for young people as well as a high unemployment rate. People with special difficulties (disabled, poor, ex drug addicted, etc ...) live on the margins of a society that treats them with indifference. With the refugee emergency the situation is getting worseHundreds of exiles living in refugee shelters in the discomfort of local population that faces this impact without an integration program. The media tell of human catastrophes and there are stakeholders spreading racism and making money on the condition of these people. The project foresees a day at one of these centers, where the exiles will be able to tell their stories even through folklore (with music, dancing, etc...). This is to facilitate cultural integration, to put a face to the personal stories and raise awareness of human rights. The artistic and cultural heritage combined with the talents may indicate a new way out of the misery of the crisis. In a context marked by the crisis, recognize and revalue cultural heritage means to raise awareness of a people, breaking the elements that separate the social components and breathe new life into the local economy. It is important to know your potential (in this case the cultural heritage and folklore) to promote them with new life and awareness in a broader context as the international one.The initiative want to use usef the cultural heritage (in the various facets of folklore) as a opportunity to achieve various objectives: to raise awareness of the value of own culture; spread the concept of European citizenship and active citizenship as a possible instrument of social growth that goes beyond the local limits; strengthen the partnership and the international dimensions of promoters; increase the quality and quantity of services for youth; to recognize and promote within the European context; increase the initiative and participation of young people; getting close people (including immigrants) through folklore and language exchange; spread the importance of language learning and preservation of dialects. The exchange involves 30 young people from five countries (Italy, Bulgeria, Chechnya and Egypt) and will last nine days. The activities are divided into four sessions and include: team building and team working; drama workshops, dances and folk music, cultural evenings, folk itinerary, rut games, etc ...The method used is based on informal learning, where young people can experience, learn by acting and discover themselves into a international context. The folklore is a language that attracts and unifies peoples. The beauty and spectacular nature of some activities will have a strong impact on target groups. The partnership will strengthen and new initiatives will be planned (thanks to follow up activities).
