PROJECT
FINISHED
The background of the project is our school's need to make better use of the newest applications in ICT and to increase the amount of international school projects. Based on these needs our objectives are to develop the competence of our teaching personnel (especially in using digital tools when teaching), their language skills and cultural competence. There are two participants in the project: a teacher of German and French and a teacher of biology and chemistry, teaching also in English in the IB school.
The project activities are job shadowing and courses for language teachers. The course participants will simply attend courses and in job shadowing there will be much planning and organizing the program before the activity and afterwards analyzing and assessing the learning outcomes together.
As a result the participants will have deeper knowledge of the target cultures. Due to new teaching and learning experiences in the project they will be more motivated while performing their teaching jobs. There will be deeper trust in the own abilities in the digital world where young people are already used to mingle. The project will also refresh the language skills of the participants.
The practical experiences from the project will be disseminated among the teaching personnel. Advice and encouragement in starting new international projects will be provided. Any subject-specific information will be disseminated in teacher teams. The students will profit from new, more motivating learning methods and they will learn how to use the digital media not only for socializing but also for learning. The public outside of the school will learn about the project through newspapers and the teachers from other schools will be informed in local teacher meetings. The project will also appear on school's web page, on Facebook and on a teacher's blog.
