LYS RIVER REGION, FROM SOURCE TO MOUTH

Since 2002 Toerisme Leiestreek and Lys-sans-Frontieres are the leaders of a cross-border touristic cooperation with the Lys river as the common theme. The main objective of the cooperation is to develop the Lys river region as a cross-border tourist destination and to promote it as such. Four common themes were defined to jointly work on product development, marketing and networking. The four themes were: river tourism, gastronomy, cycling and hiking and (industrial) heritage.Thanks to the European support, the partners created innovative products with an obvious cross-border added value and the Lys river region has become better known as a tourist area.
