Search for European Projects

Lukio-opettajien kansainvälisyystaidot
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Liedon lukio (upper secondary school) wishes to strengthen the cross-cultural and international skills of its teachers, so that more teachers would be encouraged to initiate European cooperation and interested in project work in general. The school has not had previous international projects and it is our current goal of development. We feel this is necessary for us to be better able to develop our students' skills for their future studies and working life, but also it will be an important marketing advantage when we compete for students with larger urban schools. Besides developing the teachers' skills, the objective of our project is to create an international network for our future international projects. We hope both the job shadowing and participation in international courses will help us to find more and new partners. Our plan is to send two teachers to both receiving partner schools and two teachers on international courses, one to France and one to Sweden. Six teachers will participate in the planned mobilities, three of them language teachers and three teachers of other subjects. On the one hand, language teachers are natural participants in the planned international in-service courses and one of the job shadowing mobilities, on the other hand we hope to involve also other teachers in our international work so that a wider variety of project topics is possible. A more detailed plan for mobilities will be made only after the participants have been chosen and for job shadowing it will be made in cooperation with the receiving schools. With the help of this project we hope to get started with planning our international cooperation, creating a cooperative network and gaining a more internationally competent and motivated staff. The participants will disseminate and share their experiences and the skills they learned during the project both to the rest of the staff, our students and other local and regional partners. After the project we hope to continue this work so that also our students will be able to participate in international work more actively, which will further strengthen our position among other upper secondary schools in the region.
