The LUCI project aims to bring together municipalities and professionals from different countries through a communication and exchange network that will multiply the transfer of information and experience in the field of urban lighting. The project partners will implement this plan in three main areas: discussion and sharing of experiences among elected representatives and technicians; meetings on specific topics among those involved in the network; innovation and experimentation among lighting professionals (businesses, researchers, artists, etc.) There will be four working commissions: (1) Urban strategies and lighting; (2) Environment and saving on lighting; (3) Culture and lighting; (4) Technological prospects and trends. Overall objective / Objectif général The overall objective is promoting the multilateral sharing of experience, ideas, creations, technology, expertise, mainly: to encourage discussion among technicians; to organise meetings on specific subjects; to help make lighting become a tool for promoting towns; to disseminate the experience and know-how of towns in developed countries among developing countries; and to include lighting in environmental and sustainable development considerations. Expected results / Résultats attendus • Transfer of competencies: privileged access to the experience of other partners: 60 to 90 site visits to scrutinise operations; 24 committee meetings; production of a good practice guide; placing of findings online on the Internet site. • Revaluation of districts and their inhabitants, economic development of towns. Identification of solutions to problems found in adopting lighting policies in towns: maintenance, security, attracting tourists, technological innovation and energy saving. Development of awareness and vocational training in urban lighting. • Innovation and experimental lighting: about 3 experimental lighting projects. • Ecological, energy and economic benefits from using less contaminating and less costly techniques
