FINISHED
Project „LORETTA (Natural and Maths Sciences in Technology Development)“ aims at gathering and aggregating a body of web-based study materials, which would comply with of Estonia’s national curriculum and also met the needs of our school in order to integrate sciences and humantities. Within the project, in the course of learning mobility a team of science and maths teachers will be trained who, in mutual co-operation will more successfully be able to initiate and carry out innovative developments in the school’s curriculum, as well as be able to apply the newly collected set of study materials in their everyday school work.
Preparatory activities include the selection of the participants in the learning mobility, elaboration of detailed action plan, defining of tasks and responsibilities, completion of necessary IT and language courses. This preparatory stage will be followed by learning mobility within the European Union. This stage includes intensive language training in Cyprus, IT training courses in Cyprus and Poland, a course on sustainable education in Denmark, participation in EGU conference in Austria (within the teachers’ section GIFT), team training in UK etc.
The organisational matters are the responsibility of the learning mobility project manager, whereas the responsibiliy for the actual study materials lies with the heads of departments of the school. The overall aim of the participants of the learning mobility programme is to acquire as many new skills and experience as possible in order to make good use of them during the subsequent activities.
The main sections of the project and timescale have been agreed upon earlier, before the actual commencement of the learning mobility; they are familiar to all participating parties. The initial plan and timescale will be observed throughout the project. The final stage of the project includes the analysis of the results, compilation of the web-based study material/e-course, reviewing of the school’s curriculum and introduction of necessary changes.
Through learning mobility the participants will acquire new prospective, new skills through training, as well as through interaction with colleagues from other countries. They will have the opportunity to have an insight into the use of innovative teaching methods and different education systems. The learning opportunities also include various workshops and conferences, thus creating direct contacts between the teachers of science and mathes. In the course of the international project active participants will gain new ideas for the day-to-day professional work. New joint projects between schools of various countries in order to contribute to the common set of study materials will also emerge from such co-operation.
The international activity of the teachers of differnt countries contribute to a more profound co-operation between schools, companies, higher educational facilities and scientific research organisations. A competent and innovative body of teachers is an essential asset – for students, parents, school management and the community in general, who notice and appreciate the innovative attitude of the school at teaching science and mathematics.
