PROJECT
FINISHED
The project consists of EVS-stays for four young volunteers, from the age of 18-30 years old, to three local receiving associations in Aarhus, Hillerød and Frederiksberg in Denmark. The project’s duration varies from 5 to 9 months. The volunteers will be part of the local association in terms of assignments that relate to cultural after school activities and projects for kids and young people, cf. the locally composed assignment outline (see attachment). Through the voluntary work, the volunteers will get the opportunity to make use of their own qualifications and experiences, as well as contribute to the development of the local work, while simultaneously acquiring new experiences relevant in terms of future education and work life. The volunteers will have a contact person and a mentor, and be part of the local network as well as cross-organizational events through the YMCA and YWCA in Denmark. The project’s objectives are:1. To provide an understanding of the value of mobility for both the EVS-volunteer and the local Danish association, especially in terms of the local young people.2. To increase intercultural understanding through cultural encounters between European EVS-volunteers and young Danes.3. To strengthen the volunteer’s sense of responsibility and experience of active citizenship in the world.4. To give the EVS-volunteer experience with democratic principles through participation in a democratic organization. 5. To strengthen interpersonal European relations and thereby the cohesion of Europe.6. That the informal learning and the international experience will strengthen the volunteer’s future job opportunities. As the coordinating organization, we wish to give young people the ability to actively participate in a globalized world. The project is the first step towards the extension of EVS possibilities in the context of YMCA and YWCA in Denmark, including an increase in the visibility concerning these types of projects, for both young people in Denmark and Europe. Additionally, the project is expected to have impact on the local consciousness in terms of the beneficial values of international cooperation.
