PROJECT
FINISHED
This mobility project in its essential part involved a two-week training in the German company WBS in Dresden. The rationale for the selection of training for logistics was the fact that in our town there is a noticeable demand for logistics graduates. Students can easily find professional internships in local companies. Moreover, the students have the biggest number of hours of English and German classes at school comparing with other groups- general English and German, professional ones (mandatory English and German), plus additional extra classes.
We planned to engage 15 students into the project from the third class of technical logistics school. They were selected on the basis of their marks obtained at the end of the second class of the school year - with logistical vocational subjects as well English and German. It was a reward for high academic achievement, participation and involvement in the school work.
The course 'Logistics and Warehousing' matched the teaching program in logistics and students' level of technical knowledge . That was a very attractive for our students, because the content of the program and all training course was conducted in English. An additional advantage were scheduled visits to German companies and enterprises (eg. Airport, harbour). In the project we were going to teach students how to plan logistics activities and develop projects; define the issues of the project and its solution, use adequate terminology.
Training was closely related to the content of student learning. In the first stage, students were introduced to a variety of business processes that take place in logistics; then they learned about the future of logistics, its trends and technologies. They worked in groups to pursue and develop its own logistics projects that were presented to the rest of the trainees at the end of their mobility. Among the topics there were such as: the acquisition and improvement of personal and social skills, intercultural competence, logistics at the airport and harbour. This subject was certainly met with great interest of our young people, because these students already had some knowledge to facilitate their understanding and knowledge of these issues in English language, which could only bring positive results.
Objectives of the project was to give the students necessary knowledge and skills (at the end of the project) provided in the training program (training program attached) and to develop desirable attitudes and behavior.
We assumed that students would acquire and exchange experiences in the field of logistics and warehousing, they would have a positive impact on the development of creativity, collaboration of students and satisfactory language skills would be improved in the area: students- teachers- parents; students will improve their communication in English and German.
The project used different ways of working. Initially, it was a lecture, but in subsequent sessions, students were required to work independently in groups to perform assigned tasks. Then they developed presentations on topics logistics training resulting from the profile that would be required to present to a whole group, in English. That was a team work to guarantee , that students not only wouldl improve their language skills, but also the social ones.
We expected that participation in the training would have long-term impact and would bring many benefits to our students. The results were manifested in a greater commitment to the school work and aspirations for further education, they were able to compare European and national value; meet perception of the benefits of learning, active participation in school life, opportunities to travel abroad. In their future work, it will be easier for them to make contacts with foreigners. They improved the personal qualities such as: self-confidence, self-esteem, discover in themselfves the qualities necessary in the twenty-first century to be successful, and interests, which resulted in increased motivation and creativity, social integration, European awareness and become an active citizen (mainly among students from poorer families and poor cultural background ).
We considered that international cooperation would encourage our students for personal development and enterprise.
The priority of our project was to motivate and reinforce students and teachers to permanent education in differents fields throughout the life. We wanted to take part in that project to help students and teachers to acquire and improve skills not only in the topic or subject area on which the project is focused, but also in terms of teamwork, social relations.
