Living Legends is an intergenerational project that stimulates interaction between oral history and digital culture. It is centred on the mapping and the illustration of oral history considering the wisdom and ancient knowledge oft he indigenous people of Latin America, as well as myths and legends traditionally told by the elderly in European countries and around the world. The project gives a voice to young people from different cultural backgrounds and teaches them to tell the stories of their communities in a contemporary way. Through a training of animation techniques the participants will learn how to illustrate and save the memory of their people using digital tools of artistic expression. The young participants are motivated to interview their grandparents or the elders of their communities, capturing the oral tradition they have, including their indigenous wisdom, worldview, traditions, legends of the place, etc.. From this material young people create their own art products, using animation techniques, videos and audio recordings of interviews, photography and painting. The trainings are conducted by an international team of youth workers, film professionals and cultural managers during their stay in one of the partner countries.Simultaneously a virtual platform / web that collects the works produced in the workshops in a virtual map is created. Additionally it will be nourished with animated stories from the oral tradition of different communities around the world in on-going projects. It will be a space for the diffusion and storage and preservation of wisdom and worldview of communities, which are in danger to get lost.
